Negotiations: Attempts at Collective World Building (2019)
Negotiations is an ongoing exploration into the processes of collective world building, spearheaded by Brack, a platform for socially-engaged artists in Southeast Asia. In a series of experimental research workshops, we invite participants to re-imagine and articulate what their ideal future world would look, smell, taste, sound, and feel like. In so doing, we critically examine and reflect upon processes of negotation and decision-making (within the self, with ‘the other’, and within a group).
I serve as Brack’s Editor-in-Chief and one of the core team members developing these research workshops. Negotiations forms part of our broader ongoing explorations into practices of gathering, possibilities for ‘radical hospitality’, and the art of engaging constructively with conflict and difference.
Iterations of Negotiations have been presented at National Gallery Singapore, Yale-NUS College, and Bowen Secondary School.
